Jazz-Blazers could easily be a first-round playoff series and if tonight is any indication it would be great fun.

Russillo @ryenarussillo

Joe Johnson is huge for Utah. Going to be great to have another scorer when Hayward gets back. Nice to not have all 25yr olds getting mins.

1994 was the last time the Spurs and Warriors played one another in their season openers Spurs led by 15 at half Warriors came back to win

The Jazz exploded for 37 points on 15-of-20 shooting in the third -- as many as in any quarter in 2015-16 -- to take a six-point lead in Portland.

Bill Barnwell @billbarnwell

For memes alone, NBA should have rigged the start of this game to have the Warriors hit a three and foul a Spurs player to hit a free throw.

For those watching World Series Game 1, the Spurs lead the Warriors 64-46 at halftime of their NBA season opener. The Warriors closed as 8-point home favorites and the Spurs were +525 on the money line at the Westgate. The second-half line is Warriors -10.5. Earlier, the defending champion Cavaliers beat the Knicks 117-88 to easily cover as 9.5-point home faves.

Vintage Joe Johnson in the third quarter, as he's scored 15 of his 17 points on perfect 6-of-6 shooting inside and out.

ESPN Stats and Information

Gregg Popovich went with a small lineup (putting Aldridge as the only big) at the 2:14 mark of the second quarter until halftime. During that stretch, the Spurs outscored the Warriors 12-4.

Tonight is as well as I can ever remember Damian Lillard finishing. Doing a phenomenal job of hiding the ball from Rudy Gobert.

Per @ESPNStatsInfo, the Warriors trailed by 15 or more at the half four times all of last season. They lost all four games. Led by Kawhi Leonard (18 points) and Jonathon Simmons (15 points), the Spurs are using their depth to handle the Warriors, and lead 64-46. They've also out-rebounded the Warriors 30-17.

64-46 Spurs at the half after a Jonathan Simmons 3. The Warriors look disorganized and sluggish on defense

GSW goes with their New Death Lineup, miss a couple 3s, go to (an angry Steve Kerr) timeout. Spurs up 50-34

The Portland Trail Blazers finally missed a 3-pointer late in the first half but are 7-of-8 at the break to the Utah Jazz's 3-of-13. That 12-point advantage has helped the host Blazers to an eight-point halftime lead.
