In a microcosm of their season, the Wizards' scoreboards aren't working, so the PA announcer at Verizon Center is having to announce the score after every basket. The Wizards haven't given him much to do; they trail the Nuggets 20-8 late in the first quarter.

During the first timeout of the first quarter, the Raptors played a video tribute to DeMar DeRozan, who became the franchise's all-time leader in games played. Tonight is DeRozan's 543rd career game (all with the Raptors), one more than Morris Peterson played in a Toronto uniform.

Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas (groin strain) declared himself out for Friday's game against the Toronto Raptors. Speaking to reporters at a community event on Thursday, Thomas said: "I won't be playing [Friday]. But [his Celtics teammates will] be ready. I'm going to do whatever I can to get back out there on the court. It's eating me alive to not be able to participate, not to be able to play, but I gotta be smart about this because i don't want this to linger on for the rest of the season."

X-rays were negative on Gordon Hayward's left ring finger, but it's painful enough to cause him to sit out tonight against the Warriors. "Frankly, I thought he re-broke it last game," Jazz coach Quin Snyder told reporters. "He aggravated it. It's got additional swelling." Hayward broke the finger during training camp and missed the first six games of the season. He's averaging career highs of 23.1 points and 6.4 rebounds despite dealing with persistent pain.
