Here's Spurs coach Gregg Popovich on the buyout market. Also hearing the Spurs anticipate Andrew Bogut will choose a team other than San Antonio: "We all pay attention to it, I'll say that. It's a real entity, and in some cases I think it can really help a team. Depending on what happens, none of us know. All the usual suspects are out there because everybody talks and you all ferret it out. You all know who's going to do what. We just listen. I don't know if it's fake news or not, but we listen to it."

Here's Spurs coach Gregg Popovich on the allure of big market teams. He believes the NBA is more successful as a whole when teams in large markets are winning: "We've been successful I guess. That's why some people have come. But you can't deny that markets like New York and Chicago, the big cities, are attractive no matter. No sense in trying to hide that. We've been here four or five nights, and I've had lunches and dinners and wine every day until I can't wait to get out of here. I need to go dry out. No food and alcohol for a while. I just hope half the team shows up today. ‘Are we gonna practice tomorrow?' I'm like, ‘Screw practice, we've got to go to lunch.' It's an attractive place."

Patrick Beverley wasn't supposed to play on Saturday night with tightness in his left groin but he did, scoring 15 points with seven assists in the Rockets victory over the Wolves."I didn't know if I wanted to push it. Soaked it in some epson salt when I got home and my girl took care of me," he said. "Came in and practiced and felt pretty good, got with the trainers and it felt pretty good and I was able to play well, we won."

The Rockets scored 142 points in the win over the Timberwolves on Saturday night. But the Rockets allowed a season-high 130 points, 72 in the second half and were outrebounded, 58-31. "Getting back on defense and sometimes we buddy run and you don't get the defense set quick enough and you have to react," Mike D'Antoni said of the defensive issues. "And we're not great defenders per se but we could be good team defenders and they have to understand it's five guy effort all the time. When we don't, then something breaks down and we struggle."

In just two games, the Rockets three-guard alignment with newly acquired guard Lou Williams, Eric Gordon and Patrick Beverley is averaging 38.5 points, shooting .452 percent from the field and attempting 17 threes. "He fits in cool, he's not the type of player you have to call plays for," Beverley said of Williams. "You get him the ball and let him do his thing. Same thing with E. It's easy for me, I look down the wing in transition and I see two guys out there who can make plays and definitely shoot it, makes my job that much easier."
