In the first meeting with the Pacers on Jan. 29, Rockets guard James Harden struggled, going 3-17 from the floor. Harden went 0-8 from the field when covered by forward Paul George. "That was a game where I thought Paul did a good job of just trying to stay in front and not allowing James to get to the free throw line," Pacers coach Nate McMillan said. "Those are two big keys in trying to guard him and guys like that. Just make it hard, make sure they shoot over a hand and in James' case keeping him off the free throw line, you've done a pretty good job."

Media critic Mark Cuban on the Shaquille O'Neal-JaVale McGee feud: "I'm Team JaVale every step of the way. Absolutely. Just because look, some of the comments Shaq made, if JaVale was still here, you would see me on top of him. Some of the things Shaq said in his tweets ... at which point does it get to be too much? They make fun of anybody and everybody. It's when you know you're getting to a guy, then you've got to back off. And you definitely don't make it personal."

Unlikely that anyone on the Hawks' roster cares about the Super Bowl, but Boston fans not missing a chance to needle the Falcons.

Warriors continue to be ice cold from deep. Steph Curry is 0-of-7 from deep and that last one was wide open. Still, the Warriors lead the Sixers 59-56

Jeff Hornacek pushed back against the notion that the Knicks, four games out of eighth place in the Eastern Conference entering play Monday, were losing intentionally to improve their chances to land a top pick in the draft lottery. "As a team we're not thinking about losing," he said. ".... Because Brandon was waived doesn't mean that we're not trying to win these games. We feel Ron Baker can fill right in."

Jeff Hornacek going with a back court of Ron Baker and Derrick Rose late in the second quarter, an interesting alignment that's helped the Knicks build on a 15-point lead. It allows Carmelo Anthony to play power forward, a position where he's thrived over the past few seasons.

Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas gets his Player of the Month award for January before Monday's game.

Derrick Rose has been sitting on the baseline while a team trainer appears to be working on his lower body -- possibly loosening his hips. It doesn't appear to be anything significant.

With Kyle Lowry (wrist) out, the Raptors have looked a bit out of sync. The Knicks have slowed the pace while running more of the triangle offense and it's allowed them to get a few more stops so far. Toronto is 0-for-4 from behind the arc.

32-31 Sixers after a nightmare quarter for Steph Curry. He's 1-of-7, 0-of-5 from deep, with 2 air balls

Mark Cuban describes the Nerlens Noel deal as the first trade the Mavs have made under his watch geared toward the post-Dirk future. Cuban says the Mavs "absolutely, positively" plan to re-sign Noel as a restricted free agent this summer.

What role will Deron Williams play with the Cavs? Williams, joking: "I mean, Griff (Cleveland GM David Griffin) did promise me a starting job, but ..."

Draymond Green hits nothing but backboard on his first 3-point attempt. We haven't seen that jump shot working in awhile

Ian Begley ESPN Staff Writer

The Knicks implemented more of the triangle offense, in part, to help defensive balance. They'd been struggling with that after Derrick Rose drives and the problem arose again in the first quarter when the Knicks were left with four men back after a Rose drive and DeMarre Carroll went coast to coast, converting a layup.

Avery Bradley: "I've been feeling good and I feel stronger and I just want to go out there and play as hard as I can for our team tonight."
