In a matchup of the top two contenders for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the visiting Denver Nuggets 122-113 Tuesday to claim the head-to-head tiebreaker with a 3-1 series victory. Former Denver center Jusuf Nurkic battered his former team for a career-high 33 points and 15 rebounds and CJ McCollum scored 39 as Portland took a one-game lead in the standings.

Philadelphia's win over Brooklyn leaves the Knicks (28-46) and Sixers in a tie for the NBA's 5th-worst record. Both teams are a game 'behind' Orlando (27-47) in the tanking standings.

Down 10 with three minutes left, the Nuggets will need a huge comeback to win.
