Courtney Lee went through some workouts today but didn't practice. He plans to test his ankle on Sunday prior to the Knicks' game against the Kings and hopes to play. Alvin Gentry said he still has high hopes that rookie Buddy Hield will be a "10-to-12-year player in this league" who will be "pretty effective." Asked what will lead to more playing time for the sixth overall pick, Gentry pointed to consistency, defense and playing offense without the ball. Hield, 22, is averaging 2.8 points in 8.3 minutes since Jrue Holiday's return eight games ago, and 23.7 percent from 3 this season.

Joakim Noah returned to practice today after missing two games with an ankle injury. Jeff Hornacek said Noah "looked fine" during practice and the coach seemed optimistic that Noah would be back in the lineup on Sunday against Demarcus Cousins and the Sacramento Kings. If Noah can't play, Kyle O'Quinn will likely get the start. The Knicks are 4-0 in games O'Quinn starts.
