Cavs to rest Kevin Love vs. Wizards

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Kevin Love will sit out the Cleveland Cavaliers' game against the Washington Wizards on Friday to rest, the team announced at its morning shootaround.

The Cavs have not played since Monday's 100-96 win over the Indiana Pacers, but Friday's contest marks the first part of a three-games-in-four-days stretch. Cleveland hosts Boston on Saturday and Memphis on Monday.

It will be Love's second missed game this season. The power forward also sat out the Cavs' 99-84 win over New Orleans on Feb. 6 with a bruised left thigh.

Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said earlier this week that he would start looking for spots in the schedule to sit players ahead of the playoffs.

"I think going forward we're going to rest a lot of our guys," Lue said. "Kyrie [Irving], when we get a chance, Kevin, when we get a chance, J.R. [Smith] when we get a chance."

Cavs forward LeBron James, who has already sat out two games to rest this season, is also included in that group.

Lue said he would consult with James to determine which games they will target for him to sit out between now and the end of the regular season on April 13. James said that conversation has not happened yet.
