Blazers signing former 1st-round pick Georgios Papagiannis to 10-day deal

The Portland Trail Blazers are signing Greek center Georgios Papagiannis to a 10-day contract, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Papagiannis, 20, was acquired by the Sacramento Kings with the 13th overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft after a trade with the Phoenix Suns.

The Kings waived him in February after two years of shuttling back and forth between the G-League and the NBA to get minutes after finding it difficult to break into coach Dave Joerger's frontcourt lineup.

Prior to the 2016 draft, the 7-foot-1 Papagiannis played 21 games in the 2015-16 season in the Greek league for Panathinaikos, averaging 6.4 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.
