New Orleans Pelicans guard Elfrid Payton joined an illustrious list of NBA greats on Monday by recording a triple-double in his fifth straight game.

Payton, a sixth-year NBA veteran, joined the likes of Russell Westbrook, Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan in accomplishing the feat, according to Elias Sports Bureau. Westbrook has done it four times, Robertson three times and Chamberlain twice.

Payton, averaging 10.5 points, 7.3 assists and 5.4 rebounds this season, had 19 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds on Monday in a 129-125 overtime win at Dallas, which ended a six-game losing streak for New Orleans.

Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry lauded Payton's performance after the game.

"To be a point guard and be able to come up with double-digit rebounds night after night after night, that is really tough to do," he said. "Any time they mention you in the same breath as Westbrook, you have to feel really good about it. If they mention you in the same breath as Oscar Robertson, that is another whole area."
