Report: Stephen Curry day to day

An MRI Wednesday revealed no ligament damage in Stephen Curry's sprained right ankle, according to a report in the San Jose Mercury News.

Curry was injured while defending rookie Jimmer Fredette just before halftime of the Sacramento Kings' 95-91 preseason over the Golden State Warriors Tuesday night. Curry had to be helped off the court and didn't play in the second half.

"I'm disappointed. We need him back quick," Warriors rookie coach Mark Jackson said Tuesday night. "But if not, we still have to go out and execute. It's no excuse. The next player has to look at it as an opportunity. We hope Steph comes back quick because everybody knows we are a better basketball team with him."

Repairs made to Curry's ankle in May were undamaged, according to the News. Curry is listed as day to day, but his status for the season opener against the Los Angeles Clippers Christmas Night is uncertain.
