Jazz's Al Jefferson out vs. Sixers

SALT LAKE CITY -- Starting center Al Jefferson missed Utah's game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night because of an inflamed right ankle.

The Jazz (0-2) made the announcement about 40 minutes before tipoff against the Sixers (1-1).

It was the first game Jefferson missed since being acquired in a trade from Minnesota last year. He started all 82 games last year and the first two for Utah this season.

Jefferson was averaging 11.5 points and 7.5 rebounds.

Earlier Friday, Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin announced Paul Millsap would start at power forward in place of second-year pro Derrick Favors. Favors instead started at center in place of Jefferson.
