Summer Forecast: Eastern Conference standings for 2017-18

Missing the postseason would be devastating for a Detroit franchise that had high hopes when it gave total control to Stan Van Gundy in 2014. Does our panel see the Pistons avoiding such disappointment?

Tobias Harris, speaking at the NBPA's youth camp in New York, on the Pistons' acquisition of Avery Bradley: "I think it's a great addition. He's one of the best two-way players in the NBA…. And he's going to push all of us on the defensive end. That's what we need." Harris added that he believes he's a starting-caliber player but wants to do what's best for the team. He came off the bench for 34 games last season.

Interesting NBA transaction: Ex-Pistons exec Joe Dumars has joined the Independent Sports and Entertainment agency to run its basketball division. Dumars had been mentioned as a candidate for several front office positions. As a former team president, he has a unique perspective in his new position and strong connections around the league. It's worth noting that Knicks GM Scott Perry worked closely under Dumars in Detroit. Dumars' new agency represents Knicks shooting guard Courtney Lee. Another Knicks connection? ISE CEO Hank Ratner is the former CEO of Madison Square Garden.
