Hornets finish 3-2 in Orlando

The Charlotte Hornets beat the Magic 86-78 in Thursday's fifth-place game in the Orlando Summer League. Second-round draftee Dwayne Bacon scored 29 points and grabbed eight boards. Johnny O'Bryant added 23 points with five rebounds.

Henry Ellenson recorded 29 points and six rebounds as the Pistons improved to 3-1 in summer league with an 87-82 win over the Hornets on Wednesday. Johnny O'Bryant III scored 26 points for Charlotte.

Bacon sizzles in summer league win

The Hornets defeated the Thunder 95-81 in the Orlando Summer League on Tuesday. Hornets second-rounder Dwayne Bacon dropped 17 points and added two rebounds, two assists and three steals. Treveon Graham led all scorers with 19.

Charlotte with the one-year, $2.7M Michael Carter-Williams signing now has $112M in guaranteed contracts. The Hornets are $7M below the $119M luxury tax and still have part of the $5.7M mid-level available along with the $3.2M bi-annual. Charlotte is restricted to only using $2.4M of the full mid-level or they will become hard capped.

Former Gonzaga star Przemek Karnowski has been added to the Hornets' summer league roster. The 7-foot-1, 300-pound Polish center helped the Bulldogs reach the national championship game with 12.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

Dwight Howard insisted during his introductory news conference Monday he can return to being a dominant center with the Charlotte Hornets. "A lot of people have written me off, which is great because it's going to make me work even harder," Howard said. "I'm just looking forward to this opportunity because I have a lot left in the tank."
