Two early notes from Knicks-Hawks; Emmanuel Mudiay seems to have firmly replaced Trey Burke as the first lead guard off the bench. Frank Ntilikina has two quick fouls but he's been active defensively against Trae Young.

Here's David Fizdale on how he uses his experience as an assistant with the Hawks to inform his approach with the Knicks: “Now I'm not saying we're going to take four years (to rebuild in New York), but I do lean on that as my experience to say, ‘Hey, it's never as bad as you think.' Every day I'm coming in here to get these guys better. I've got to keep my eye on that. That's what I'm trying to tell them to do. I'm the guy that's got to keep an even head throughout all the waves of this stuff. And so going through that definitely helped me.”

Here's David Fizdale from last week on how he uses his experience as an assistant with the Hawks to inform his approach with the Knicks: "I use that experience to keep myself at a place of patience. (Fizdale's first season in Atlanta) was a tough year. The toughest year of my career from a win-loss standpoint. I think we won 13. By the fourth year we were playing Boston in the playoffs taking them to seven games. Just (by) adding a couple pieces and those young kids growing."

David Fizdale was an assistant in Atlanta for four seasons under then Hawks head coach Mike Woodson. After winning just 13 games in Fizdale's first season in ATL, the Hawks increased their win total in each of Fizdale's next three seasons (and in all of Woodson's six seasons as head coach). Fizdale says he draws on that experience to maintain an even-keeled approach with the Knicks, who are in the early stage of a rebuild.
