Now it's personal: Morris calls Millsap 'crybaby'

The Atlanta Hawks are back in the series, and the bad blood with the Washington Wizards -- particularly between Paul Millsap and Markieff Morris -- shows no signs of letting up.

John Wall just missed scoring at least 30 points for the third straight game with 29 points. But the rest of the Washington staters combined for 30 points total. Atlanta cruises to its first win of the series as Paul Millsap and Dennis Schroder come up big. Millsap goes for 29 points and 14 rebounds while Schroder didn't back down from Wall with 27 points and 9 assists. If the Hawks are to have any chance of evening this series, they'll need an aggressive Schroder again and this type of defensive energy, rebounding (they kept Washington to several one-and-done possessions) and offensive ball movement.

Hawks beat Wizards 116-98 to pull within 2-1 in their series. The ViewFromVegas is they were -145 on the money line and also covered as 2.5-point home favorites. It went over the closing total of 211 with 38.5 seconds to play.

Scott Brooks opts to stick with mostly his reserves, who cut the Hawks' lead to 14. Brooks has Bradley Beal on floor with second unit while the Hawks have their starters minus Dwight Howard on the floor again.

John Wall's mouth might be moving as fast as he does on the court now. A Dennis Schroder foul to Wall's head after a made jumper has lit even more of a fire under Wall. Wall has no love for Schroder dating back to the 2015 Wiz-Hawks series and Wall is talking again to Schroder and the Hawks as Washington has closed the gap to 13.

ESPN Stats and Information

The Hawks doubled-up the Wizards in the paint in the 1st half, outscoring them 36-18. The Wizards had a +4 advantage in the paint in the first 2 games of the series. Atlanta was 18-25 (72%) in the paint in the 1st half of Game 3 compared to 8-22 outside it (36%).

Bradley Beal and Markief Morris struggled in the first half, combining to shoot 6-for-23 and just 1-for-8 from 3. Marcin Gortat has taken just one shot off a pick and roll and is scoreless. It's no wonder why the Wizards trail by 18 at the half.

Dennis Schroder is not backing down against John Wall. While Wall made 7-of-his-first-8 shots and has 21 points at the half, Schroder has scored 20 points and has attacked the Wizards defense. Paul Millsap barely missed a double-double at the half with 15 and 9.

John Wall is the only reason why the Wizards have a pulse right now in Game 3. Wall has 14 points, including a scintillating behind-the-back dribble and dunk on Kent Bazemore in transition and a corner 3 to beat the buzzer, for 14 points. But Washington trailed by as much as 38-13 because the Hawks shot 15-for-23. Atlanta's shooting and ball movement has been crisp and Dennis Schroder has come out aggressive with 15 points. Wall's teammates shot 4-for-19 in the first quarter.
