Predicting the 2017-18 MVP: The case for Jimmy Butler

Butler certainly has the capability to make a strong statistical case for the award, but history tells us players that weren't top-15 draft picks haven't fared well in the voting in the modern era.

NBA keeps hitting from long distance in world's biggest nation

The Andrew Wiggins $25.3M salary next season will rank 6th among small forwards. LeBron James, Gordon Hayward, Carmelo Anthony, Otto Porter and Kevin Durant round out the top 5.

First year cap hit in the Andrew Wiggins $146.5M extension is a $25.3M. The extension is based on 25% of the 2018-19 projected $101M salary cap. Wiggins had a $22.7M free agent cap hold going into next summer. Because of the large cap hold, Minnesota would not have had cap space in July even if the Timberwolves had not extended Wiggins.

Nick Friedell ESPN Staff Writer

Thibs had this interesting nugget towards the end of his postgame press conference in Shanghai. No doubt something he has shared with his team. "If you're waiting on potential, you're waiting on losing. So we can't wait on potential any longer."
