Carmelo after OKC debut: 'No more Knicks talk'

There were some rough patches for the Thunder's new All-Star duo in their regular-season debuts with Oklahoma City, with Paul George missing a number of open looks and Carmelo Anthony going cold at times, but talent prevailed in the end.

Carmelo Anthony: "That chapter's closed. That chapter's closed. No more Knicks talk. We can just focus on the Thunder moving forward."

ESPN's Stats & Info

Successful debut for new Oklahoma City trio

Paul George scored 28 points, Carmelo Anthony 22 and defending MVP Russell Westbrook 21 (in a triple-double, of course) as the Thunder beat Anthony's previous team, the Knicks, 105-84 in OKC's season opener on Thursday night.

The first half of the new Big Three era is in the books on OKC, and while a bit disjointed, talent was showcased. Westbrook has 12-5-6, George has 17 and Anthony has 15 as the Thunder lead the Knicks 53-42. Balance is an issue, though, as Westbrook, George and Anthony accounted for 44 points and took 35 of OKC's 44 total shots.

OKC's offense continued its trend from the preseason of lacking a real flow, but Paul George still dropped 13, because he's very good. Carmelo Anthony had 4 on 1-6 shooting, Westbrook with 5 and 2 assists as the Thunder lead the Knicks 27-24.

On the big board pregame it just flashed "Welcome Back Enes Kanter and Doug McDermott." That's a first for former OKC players making their return. The team doesn't do tribute videos, but did a little extra for fan favorite Kanter.

Kind of a playoff-like feel in the arena in OKC tonight. They've got shirts on the seats, lots of media in the building. Got it all, except for the whole two good teams part.
