Miami Heat host public scrimmage

MIAMI -- For the first time in six months, the Miami Heat returned to the floor of their arena on Thursday night.

LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh headlined a scrimmage held for season-ticket holders. It was the only public practice the team will have before the regular season starts.

Miami hosts a preseason game against Orlando on Sunday night.

Instead of coming out of the locker room and accessing the court through a private tunnel, the Heat took the floor by walking down the steps of the lower bowl of the arena, slapping hands with fans along the way. Wade was even in the Christmas spirit, wearing a candy cane behind his right ear as he arrived for warmups.
