Notes: Byron Mouton was an emotional leader who earned honorable mention All-ACC honors as a senior, finishing the season as Maryland's fourth-leading scorer with 11.1 ppg and third rebounder with five a game. During the Terps' title run, he was charged with defending some of the nation's toughest players in the NCAA Tournament and registered 12 points and collected six rebounds to help the Terps top Kansas in the national semifinals.

Transfered from Tulane in 1999. In his first season with Maryland, he finished fourth on team in scoring (9.6 ppg) and rebounding (4.0) during 2000-01 season. Mouton was Tulane's top scorer with 11.4 points per game and 15 games with double-figure scoring as a sophomore. Named to Conference USA All-Freshman Team while leading Tulane with a 15.3 ppg as a freshman. Was runner-up as C-USA Rookie of the Year to Larry Hughes.

Positives: Mouton busts his tail every time he steps on the court. He doesn't wilt when he can't score. He makes plays and finds himself around the basketball on every play. He can finish and run the floor and hit the occasional 3-pointer.

Negatives: Is Mouton a guard or a small forward? He played small forward at Maryland but he must be a guard in the NBA. He has to prove he has the ball skills to be a success in the NBA or at the very least to make a roster.

Summary: Mouton played well in Portsmouth and will have to do the same again in Chicago. He hasn't had an easy career and he'll have to struggle to make a team this summer. Mouton shouldn't be discouraged if he doesn't get drafted because it might happen. But he's got the determination to keep trying.
