Lenny Cooke

SHOOTING GUARD | (6-6, 206) | null

Notes: Lenny Cooke didn't play high school basketball as a senior, but remains one of the top talents who hasn't stepped foot on a college campus. But he also remains a risky pick, based on his unpredictable nature off the court.

Cooke broke onto the national scene as a rising junior at the 2001 adidias ABCD camp, where he was named the event's MVP. But he latest only eight games as a junior at Old Tappan High School in New Jersey. Cooke averaged 31.5 points and 15 rebounds at Old Tappan before academic problems cut short his season. He also played at LaSalle Academy in New York during his freshman and sophomore years.

Positives: Cooke is considered one of the top prep players in the country. A hard worker with a scorers mentality. Has an NBA body and strength. Very strong rebounder.

Negatives: Oddly enough, Cooke isn't an exceptional athlete. He struggles with his shooting from the perimeter and also seems to struggle with his decision making on and off the court. Costly turnovers and poor shot selection are a given.

Summary: Cooke really needed to go to college, but academically he just couldn't swing it. He's played so little the past two seasons, NBA people don't have a great take on him. Has the talent to be a first-round pick if he stayed in school a couple of years. Now ...?
