Hawaii downs Kansas in Corvallis Regional

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Matt Inouye had two home runs and four
RBI to lift Hawaii to a 9-5 win over Kansas on Sunday in the NCAA
Corvallis Regional.
Luis Avila added three hits and three RBI for the Rainbows
(45-16), who advanced to play host Oregon State late Sunday.
Oregon State would win the regional with a victory. If Hawaii
wins, the teams will play again at 5 p.m. ET Monday to decide the
regional.
Jared Schweitzer was 3-for-5 with a home run for Kansas (43-25),
which was eliminated from the double-elimination tournament. The
game was a near-mirror of Friday's first-round game between the
teams, but with switched roles.
In Friday's game, Hawaii led 5-0 in the third inning, but Kansas
rebounded to win 9-6.
On Sunday, Kansas scored four in the first on three hits, a walk
and a balk from Hawaii starter Mark Rodrigues. Schweitzer's solo
home run in the third inning gave the Jayhawks' a 5-0 lead.
But Hawaii got all five runs back in the bottom of the inning,
capped by Inouye's two-run homer. Inouye, who hadn't homered all
season, connected on another two-run homer in the fifth.
Hawaii's Luis Avila added an RBI single in the sixth, and a
passed ball allowed Robbie Wilder to score in the eighth to make it
9-5.
Hawaii reliever Darrell Fisherbaugh took the mound for Rodrigues
in the fourth and shut out Kansas the rest of the way.
Nathan Young, the Rainbows' No. 9 hitter, was 3-for-4 with two
runs scored.
Gus Milner was 2-for-5 with an RBI for Kansas.
