Oregon State routs Hawaii to win Corvallis Regional

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Bill Rowe drove in six runs Sunday to lead Oregon State to a 12-3 win over Hawaii in the championship game of the NCAA Corvallis Regional.

Tyler Graham added three hits and three RBI for the Beavers, who advance to a Super Regional and play Pacific-10 Conference rival Stanford.

The site, dates and times will be announced Monday night.

Oregon State, the regional's top seed, jumped on the third-seeded Rainbows early. The Beavers (42-14) scored a run in the first on a sacrifice fly by Mitch Canham. In the third, Tyler Graham's single in the brought in two more runs, and Rowe added another with an RBI groundout.

Hawaii (45-17) got two runs back in the fourth on RBI singles by Jonathan Hee and Esteban Lopez.

Leading 5-3, Oregon State broke the game open in the seventh and eighth. Rowe had a two-run double in the Beavers' three-run seventh and a two-run single in a four-run eighth.

Oregon State starter Mike Stutes got the win, allowing three runs in 5 2/3 innings. Relievers Joe Paterson and Eddie Kunz blanked Hawaii the rest of the way. Matt Daly took the loss for Hawaii.

Despite Oregon State's double-digit scoring, it was a game of missed opportunities as both teams left 10 runners on base. Oregon State second baseman Chris Kunda was named the regional's most outstanding player.

Hawaii defeated Kansas earlier Sunday to move into the regional's championship round.
