IDA, Mich. -- A student coach who was among the injured in an Atlanta bus accident a year ago that killed five Bluffton University baseball players plans to be back on the field this month.
The Monroe Evening News reports 23-year-old Tim Berta of Ida plans to throw out a ceremonial first pitch at the small Ohio college's March 18 home opener.
Berta is continuing to recover from his injuries, and says: "I just want to have a sense of normalcy."
Berta sustained injuries including bleeding on his brain and had to learn to walk and talk again.
Investigators say the driver of the bus apparently mistook an exit ramp for a highway lane. The bus slid off an overpass and then landed on the interstate below. The bus driver and his wife also died.
