Alabama impresses Robinson

One eventful day in Tuscaloosa was all it took to put Alabama in the driver's seat for Carl Robinson (Theodore, Ala./Theodore). The 6-foot-2, 205-pound linebacker attended Alabama's Junior Day Saturday and came away extremely impressed.

"It was a great experience," Robinson, an ESPNU 150 Watch List member, said Sunday afternoon. "I learned a lot yesterday. I think I'd fit in well if I do decide to go to Alabama."

Robinson hasn't been offered yet by Alabama, but he is receiving interest from the Crimson Tide. Florida State, Louisville, Duke and UCLA have shown some early interest as well. The prep star said Tennessee was showing some early interest too back when former head coach Lane Kiffin was there.

Robinson said he'll likely wait until national signing day 2011 to commit, but Alabama, he said, is now his leader and Alabama is where he wants to go to in June for camp.

"I'm really liking Alabama right now," he said.

Robinson said he and the rest of Saturday's Junior Day participants were treated to a tour of the Alabama campus, which included getting to see the hotel the team stays at before home games. They also got to check out Bryant-Denny Stadium.

"We got to see what it's like to play football at Alabama," he said.

Robinson said Alabama head coach Nick Saban spoke to the group briefly, basically telling them not to be nervous when they broke into groups and talked with the Alabama assistant coaches. Robinson and the rest of the outside linebackers met with defensive coordinator Kirby Smart.

"Coach Smart had us watch some film so we could see how practices go at Alabama," Robinson said. "It looked pretty hard."

As far as his own game, Robinson said he played middle linebacker for Theodore last season but played outside linebacker before that.

"I'm just a hard-nosed, hard-working linebacker," he said. "I'm a sure tackler."
