FiveThirtyEight: UCLA's Ball a unique, must-watch star

Lonzo Ball' vision, athleticism and the general sense of not-quite-rightness to his game make him a unique player in college basketball this season and certainly one of the most entertaining.

Bracketology: Kentucky (for now) takes a dip

Big Blue Nation didn't like losing at home to UCLA. It's probably fair to say it won't like falling from a No. 1 seed -- or being matched up against a team that already knocked off a major power this season.

George Mason's 6-foot-2 senior Marquise Moore is filling up the columns. Had his first triple-double vs Penn (17 pts, 16 rebs, 10 assts). Now averaging 10.8 boards per game, despite a goose egg in the opener vs Towson.

UNI's Jeremy Morgan continued his fine start to his senior season. After he was held scoreless in first half against North Dakota, Morgan scored 38 of the team's 49 second-half points to lead UNI to victory.

ESPN Stats and Information

Michigan was 12-of-16 on 3-pointers in the first half, and UCLA (10-of-14) was almost as good.

?Five-star Alabama signee Collin Sexton finished with 29 points on 12-of-19 shooting. Think Aaron Thompson (Pitt signee) got the better of him in the second half, getting physical with him and really guarding. Thompson will make an immediate impact at Pitt due to his IQ and defensive ability. Sexton is going to put on a show at Alabama from day one, combining with John Petty in a high-level backcourt duo.

Michigan and UCLA are a combined 19-of-26 from 3 in the first 17 minutes at Pauley Pavilion. (Bonus analysis: That is very good.)

Five-star wing Hamidou Diallo finished with 29 points and nine rebounds -- and it was perhaps the most complete game we've seen from him. If his jumper keeps progressing, the signs of a potential first-round pick this spring are obvious. NBA scouts and executives continue to go to Putnam Science Academy (Connecticut) to watch him in case he skips college for the NBA. Kentucky, Syracuse, Connecticut, Arizona, Kansas and Indiana made his final six.

ESPN Stats and Information

The first meeting since 1991 between Duke and UNLV ended in a 94-45 Blue Devils win. It threatened the largest loss in UNLV history, a 57-point defeat to Houston on Jan. 20, 1971.
