LSU can't hire former Tiger as student coach

BATON ROUGE, La. -- NCAA rules prohibit LSU from making
former Tiger Randy Livingston a student coach, head coach John
Brady said.

Livingston, who recently completed an eight-year NBA career,
plans return to Baton Rouge to finish his degree at LSU. Livingston
expressed an interest in becoming a basketball coach.

But NCAA compliance staff determined that Livingston can't serve
as a student coach because the five-year eligibility clock that
began when he came to LSU in 1994 has expired.
