Calhoun recognized for lifetime achievement

LOS ANGELES -- Jim Calhoun, who guided Connecticut to the
NCAA basketball championship in April, has been named this year's
recipient of the John R. Wooden Legends of Coaching award.

He will receive the award April 5 at the Los Angeles Athletic

Calhoun has a 432-165 record in 18 seasons at UConn. The Huskies
also won the national title in 1999.

The award recognizes lifetime achievements of coaches.

Previous winners were Mike Montgomery, Roy Williams, Lute Olson,
Denny Crum, Mike Krzyzewski and Dean Smith.
