CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Miami coach Frank Haith was released from the hospital Friday after having his appendix removed Thursday, ESPN.com's Andy Katz reports.
Sports information director Sam Henderson said Haith wouldn't be traveling with the team to Virginia Tech on Friday, but there's a chance he could fly on his own to Blacksburg, Va., for Saturday night's game.
The more likely scenario is for Haith to join the team for Tuesday night's game at Florida State in Tallahassee. Henderson said assistant Michael Hunt, who was the head coach at Towson last season, would be the bench coach in Haith's absence.
In his first year with the Hurricanes, the 39-year-old Haith has led them to a 15-8 record. Miami is 6-6 in its first season in the
Atlantic Coast Conference and in contention for an NCAA Tournament bid.
