The Brooklyn Park native played sparingly in nine games last
season, averaging just 1.0 point and 0.3 rebounds in 2.4 minutes.
"Miles committed to us as a sophomore in high school when this
program had a lot of question marks," coach Dan Monson said in a
statement. "We'll always be grateful for his commitment to this
program and we sincerely hope he has a great career."
Webb did not say where he might transfer.
"I fulfilled a personal goal to play for the Gophers, but now
its time for me to continue my career somewhere else," he said.
On Monday, Kerry Wooldridge announced he would transfer as well,
but neither player figured prominently in the Gophers' plans for
Cal-State Fullerton: Cal State-Fullerton coach Bob Burton
signed a contract extension, keeping him with the Titans
through the 2009-10 season.
Burton led Cal State-Fullerton to a 21-11 record this season,
and the Titans made their first postseason appearance since 1998,
winning two games in the NIT.
Burton had completed the second year of his original four-year
deal this season.
"It was an easy decision to stay," he said. "This school gave
me a Division I opportunity and now they have stepped up again."
Purdue: Redshirt freshman Adam Liddell and freshman Xavier Price will transfer from Purdue, the school announced.
Liddell appeared in 10 games during the 2004-05 season. He scored five points and grabbed 12 rebounds in 7.1 minutes per outing.
Price appeared in 26 games and started five contests. He averaged 3.1 points and 1.7 rebounds in 15.0 minutes per outing.
"Adam and Xavier have decided it's best to go in another direction with their careers," said associate head coach Matt Painter, who will succeed Gene Keady as head coach on April 1. "We've told both Adam and Xavier that we will assist them in finding a new place to play basketball and continue their education. We appreciate their contributions to our program and wish them nothing but the best."
Colorado State: Two of the schools top reserves have decided to transfer.
Coach Dale Layer said Monday that Phillip Thomasson, a 6-foot-7
forward from Burleson, Texas, and Stephen Verwers, a 6-10 forward
from Fort Worth, Texas, asked for and were granted releases from
Verwers started nine games and Thomasson eight for a CSU team
that went 11-17 overall last season and just 3-11 in the Mountain
Verwers averaged 1.9 points and 2.0 rebounds while playing 9.7
minutes a game. Thomasson played 11.2 minutes and averaged 2.0
points and 2.3 rebounds.
