Rowe was 45-125 at New Hampshire

DURHAM, N.H. -- Phil Rowe resigned as New Hampshire's
basketball coach Thursday, leaving with a 45-125 record in six
seasons with the Wildcats.

Rowe's most successful season was in 2001-'02, when he led the
Wildcats to an 11-17 record. The team's record was 9-19 this last

Rowe, whose resignation is effective immediately, said he plans
to pursue other career opportunities but declined to give

"While there has been progress, clearly we are not where we
want to be," athletic director Marty Scarano said. "We have given
significant resource and attention to basketball and have been
frustrated by our inability to make sustained gains. Phil Rowe is
not entirely responsible for this continuing problem, and in fact,
is in a long line of individuals who have not realized the
aspirations established for basketball."
