NAU guard Sir granted sixth year of eligibility

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Northern Arizona guard Steve Sir has
been granted a sixth season of eligibility by the NCAA, Lumberjacks
coach Mike Adras announced Thursday.

Sir, who transferred to NAU in the middle of the 2003-04 season,
missed the 2003 season to a sports hernia and was granted another
season on the basis of a medical redshirt season.

He also redshirted his first season at San Diego State prior to
transferring to NAU, in addition to the season he sat out per NCAA
transfer rules after he left SDSU.

"It is a huge relief to know I got the year back," said Sir,
who led NCAA Division I in 3-point field goal percentage last
season at 49 percent. "It is a privilege to play college
basketball, have the opportunity to finish my degree and be around
Flagstaff and the guys on the team for another season."

Sir played in all 32 games last season for the Lumberjacks,
averaging 11.1 points.

He is NAU's all-time 3-point percentage leader and has made 152
shots from beyond the arc in his two-year career, ranking fifth in
school history.
