St. Peter's to hire Dunne to head hoops program

JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- St. Peter's will hire former Seton Hall
assistant John Dunne as men's basketball coach, the school
announced Tuesday.

A news conference will be held Wednesday to introduce Dunne, a
Seton Hall assistant for five years under Louis Orr.

Orr was fired in March. Dunne also assisted Orr at Siena prior
to going to Seton Hall.

Dunne will replace Bob Leckie, who retired last month after six
seasons and a 67-107 record.

Leckie led the Peacocks to the 2006 Metro Atlantic Athletic
Conference championship game, which they lost to Iona.

He was 8-48 in his first two seasons before turning the program
around with the help of high-scoring guard Keydren Clark, who
finished his career as the sixth-leading all-time scorer in NCAA
Division I with 3,058 points.
