Two charged in attempted juco player shooting

FORT SMITH, Ark. -- Authorities on Tuesday filed attempted
capital murder charges against two Fort Smith men in the shooting
of a University of Arkansas-Fort Smith basketball player.

Meshawn Jamar Steward, 16, and William Harold Steward, 25, are
scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday. The Stewards, who are cousins,
are accused of shooting Terrist Parramore, 18, of Fort Worth,

Parramore was in critical condition Tuesday at Sparks Regional
Medical Center, said Fort Smith police Sgt. Jarrard Copeland.

Police say they found Parramore lying on the floor of a Ramada
Inn banquet room after they answered a call concerning fights and
underage drinking at a Halloween party near midnight Saturday.

Witnesses told police that Meshawn Steward shot Parramore after
William Steward argued with Parramore. Meshawn Steward will be
charged as an adult, said Prosecuting Attorney Steve Tabor.
