Buckeyes coach undergoes second back surgery

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State men's basketball coach Thad
Matta is recovering from his second back surgery in seven weeks.

Athletics department spokesman Dan Wallenberg said Matta
underwent surgery on his lower back on Wednesday and is now resting
at home. Wallenberg said the surgery was not as serious as the
operation Matta had on June 16 to correct a herniated disk.

Matta will be able to spend more time this month recovering since
it's a quiet period on the NCAA calendar, and coaches can't be out
on the road evaluating players again until Sept. 9.
