After a few recruiting losses, chalk up a big victory for the Illinois basketball program.
Next season, Illini coach Bruce Weber will be welcoming heralded Kentucky transfer Alex Legion to Champaign, according to a published report.
Legion chose Illinois over Notre Dame.
"It was a tough situation because they're both great schools, but it came down to relationships," the 6-foot-4, 195-pound Legion told the Chicago Tribune.
After the 2007 high school season, Legion was rated the No. 29 recruit in the ESPN 150. He will have 2½ years of eligibility remaining and can join the Illini once his 2008 first semester grades are posted.
"I've found the right fit," Legion told the paper. "It was my decision. Now I can settle down."
Legion played in six games this season for the Wildcats and started in two of them. He averaged 6.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
