Hot start for Northwestern against La Salle after suffering a loss on Wednesday night. They have 11 points -- Bryant McIntosh has scored or assisted every point thus far.

It was a much better second half for UCLA, which easily separated from South Carolina State to win 96-68. Freshman Chris Smith (15 points) was impressive, while G.G. Solomon was plus-33 in 27 minutes.

Two days after needing overtime against lowly Central Arkansas, No. 23 UCLA didn't come out much better against winless South Carolina State. The Bruins led by as many as 13 in the first half, but that lead dipped two just two late in the half before they headed to the locker room up 41-35. Freshman Chris Hill provided a nice spark off the bench with 7 first-half points.
