UMass announces Pat Kelsey asked out of his agreement at 3:30 p.m. Kelsey said in a statement that he asked out due to personal reasons. He said this decision was personal, nothing to do with UMass. He apologized in the statement. Kelsey was on campus Wednesday. Kelsey's photo is still the background on the UMass basketball twitter page. UMass released him, but the statement from AD Ryan Bamford said the school is still figuring out how this "impacts the executed Memorandum of Understanding." UMass will renew its search for a coach.

Michigan is 32-of-36 on uncontested shots in the NCAA tournament (88.9 percent), including 16-of-16 in the second round against Louisville.

Oregon is averaging 25.5 transition points per game in the NCAA Tournament, second-most among Sweet 16 teams (North Carolina, 27.5). The Ducks are making 75.0 percent of their shots in transition, best in the field (minimum 10 shots).

Winthrop coach Pat Kelsey has change of heart and backs out of UMass job. "He just didn't feel like it was the right place for him," a source close to Kelsey told ESPN.

John Calipari on leaving Memphis: "Kentucky is [a job] you leave for. .... It's Kentucky. It's Kentucky." Says he rejected three previous offers and said three other schools had reached out to him during his time in Memphis. He says he wanted to be at a Power 5 school.

Who saw this coming for the ACC? The conference had nine teams at the start of the NCAA tournament and has one in the Sweet 16. Among Tournament Challenge brackets, three ACC teams were each picked to reach the Sweet 16 on at least 45 percent of entries. Before the tournament, ESPN.com/BPI projected a 1.5 percent chance that the ACC would have at most one team in the Sweet 16.
