Jeff Goodman ESPN Insider

LaVar Ball cleared up confusion to ESPN about being misquoted by radio station about comments on Lonzo only playing for Lakers: "All I said was that my boy is going to play for the Lakers, and I'm going to speak it into existence," LaVar told ESPN on Saturday night. "I want him to be a Laker, but I wasn't saying he's only going to play for the Lakers. I'm not trying to say he won't play for a different team. But I'd like him to play for the Lakers because it's home and I'd love him to learn from Magic (Johnson) He's the best guard ever to me, and nobody better for Lonzo to learn from than Magic Johnson."

Just a reminder: Less than a year ago, someone flew a plane over Westwood with a "Fire Steve Alford" sign trailing behind it. Talk about your all time backfires.

UCLA has some absolute ballers, man. But their defense/toughness late against both Oregon and Arizona got wins. (And they can fill it up.)

John Gasaway ESPN Insider

UCLA pulled down 37 percent of its misses at Arizona. If the Bruins do that the rest of the way, any fretting about this defense may be missing the point.

Dana O'Neil ESPN Senior Writer

I keep saying and thinking that UCLA has to defend to be a true contender. Bruins keep proving me wrong. So many weapons.

Northwestern hasn't punched its ticket just yet. Have now lost five of its last seven, with games against Michigan and Purdue remaining.

Kobi Simmons has been generally out of sync since going for 20 in the first UCLA meeting. 7.4 PPG in nine games since, one point in 10 mins tonight.

Arizona has two high, high-level offensive players in Lauri Markkanen and Allonzo Trier, plus several other complementary options -- and depth for a variety of matchups and styles. They're tough, they defend, they're well-coached. High ceiling in the NCAA Tournament.

C.L. Brown ESPN Staff Writer

Arizona's Allonzo Trier continuing the tear he's been on after 21 points against Washington and 25 against USC. Combined with his 16 first half points in 6-7 FG bs UCLA, Trier is shooting 67.8% from the field in his last three games including 9 of 13 from 3-point range

John Gasaway ESPN Insider

UCLA's on-pace for its worst shooting of the Pac-12 season. Bruins hit 59 percent of their 2s (as per their incredible normal) but just 24 percent of their 3s.

C.L. Brown ESPN Staff Writer

UCLA led for 14 minutes of first half but the entire time it felt like the Bruins should have had a bigger cushion. Arizona closes out the half on 7-0 run for four point lead. Wildcats led the first meeting by 11 at half.

ESPN Stats and Information

Since Jim Larrañaga took over as Miami coach in 2011-12, the Hurricanes are 4-1 (.800) against top-10 Duke teams. That matches the best winning percentage against top-10 Duke teams in that time (minimum two games).

Eamonn Brennan ESPN Staff Writer

The Bruins are playing solid zone on one end and doing their usual things on the other, Lonzo Ball is locked in, Allonzo Trier and Lauri Markannen are playing at a high level -- UCLA-Arizona is starting to look like it might be epic.

C.L. Brown ESPN Staff Writer

Really surprised UCLA doesn't go zone for more prolonged stretches in the game. The Bruins have enough length at every position to really bother teams -- and frankly at times they just look disinterested in staying engaged in playing man

Paul Biancardi Basketball Recruiting

Nugget prior to UCLA vs Arizona. The PAC12 has 22 top 100 prospects coming in next year. The most of any conference. Washington has the no.1 player in Michael Porter Jr. and Arizona has no.2 big man Deandre Ayton. UCLA at Arizona tips now on ESPN.

No. 4 Arizona is about to host No. 5 UCLA on ESPN. The ViewFromVegas is the Wildcats are 2.5-point home favorites. Later, also on ESPN, No. 1 Gonzaga goes for an undefeated regular season against BYU. The Bulldogs are 20.5-point home favorites and are also an NCAA-best 20-5-1 ATS.
