UCF 7-6 center Fall to mull NBA draft options

Central Florida big man Tacko Fall is taking a look at the NBA. The 7-foot-6 center -- AAC Defensive Player of the Year -- will explore his draft status and will have until May to decide.

SMU defeated UCF 70-59 to advance to the AAC tournament finals. They will play either UConn or Cincinnati. SMU's Sterling Brown led all scorers with 22 points. Semi Ojeleye added 17.

With less than four minutes remaining in their AAC tournament semifinal game, SMU has started extending its possessions to use as much of the shot clock as possible. With a 14-point lead, the clock is their friend. UCF has 3:25 left to mount a charge and keep its NCAA tournament hopes alive.

SMU extended its lead to 14 points on another Shake Milton 3-pointer when UCF went 2:45 without a basket midway through the second half. The Knights quickly scored twice, but remain down by double digits with less than 8 minutes remaining.

SMU has opened up a 8-point lead on UCF after Shake Milton nailed a 3-pointer and then B.J. Taylor was called for a technical foul on the other end of the floor. UCF coach Johnny Dawkins was not a fan of that call and came close to getting T'd up himself, but everyone calmed down during the media timeout.

SMU goes into halftime up 26-23 on UCF. The Knights had an opportunity for points late in the first half, but couldn't, resulting in a shot clock violation. Matt Williams did come up with a steal and threw up a half-court heave, but it was off the mark. SMU's Semi Ojeleye leads all scorers with 10 points.
