ESPN Stats and Information

New Indiana coach Archie Miller brings a strong track record to Bloomington. In six seasons at Dayton, his Flyers posted a better overall record than the Hoosiers and also made a run to the Elite Eight, a stage Indiana hasn't reached since 2002.

Names in mix at Dayton, per source: Assistant Tom Ostrom, John Groce, Northern KY's John Brannen, ex-Flyer and OKC assistant Anthony Grant. There may be one or two more.

Dayton is expected to cast a wide net, but one name that could be viable is former Illinois coach John Groce. Groce was a head coach at Ohio and assistant at Ohio State and Xavier and knows the state and Midwest well. The Flyers are expected to act fast in the next week.

Michigan State coach Tom Izzo, the Dean of Big Ten coaches, offered this reaction to the hiring of Archie Miller at Indiana: "I was personally sad to lose Tom Crean but I have always watched and respected the job Archie has done as an assistant and then the head coach at Dayton. This league has some of the best coaches in the country and it will be another great addition,"

ESPN Stats and Information

Dayton's success since Archie Miller took over the Flyers' program in 2011-12 has run virtually parallel to Indiana's over the same span, with one more win, six fewer losses, one less NCAA tournament win and an Elite Eight appearance.

Dayton makes announcement official that Archie Miller has left for Indiana after six years. Release said the Flyers did everything they could to keep him.

The Miller family now can claim they are at two of the best jobs in the country with Sean at Arizona and Archie at Indiana. Quite impressive under one family roof.

On the Archie Miller to Indiana move: Butler coach Chris Holtmann said, "I'm happy for him. It's a great spot for him.'' Notre Dame coach Mike Brey said, "It's a great move for both.''

Dayton coach Archie Miller informing his team now that he is heading to Bloomington to become coach at Indiana. Heck of a hire for IU.

Indiana is tentatively scheduling a news conference for Monday to introduce Dayton's Archie Miller as its next head basketball coach. Miller has been a perennial winner at Dayton. He knows the Midwest in recruiting, but is outside the Indiana family. There had been speculation that the Hoosiers would stay in the family tree, but AD Fred Glass never said that was a requirement.
