He has come a long way from the redshirt freshman with the mustache tattoo on his finger and a penchant for penalties. Now a junior, Lewan morphed into a leader and reliable anchor on a Michigan offensive line that struggled otherwise.

He was named the Big Ten's top offensive lineman and was a virtual guarantee to shut down his opponent in pass protection for quarterbacks Denard Robinson and Devin Gardner.
