Starting cornerback Cedric Griffin, 20, was charged with
interference with an emergency phone call. Third-string quarterback
Matt Nordgren, 21, was charged with criminal mischief. Both charges
are Class A misdemeanors punishable by up to a year in jail and a
$4,000 fine.

According to university police, Griffin and Nordgren had a
verbal altercation with another student outside a campus dorm early
Sept. 21. Nordgren is accused of kicking a student's car and
causing damage. Griffin is accused of knocking a phone out of the
student's hand when he tried to call police.

The players declined comment through a team spokesman.

Coach Mack Brown said Wednesday he spoke to the players and
their families and decided that neither player will be suspended
for Saturday's game with Nebraska.

He joined De'Arrius Howard, who returned to the practice field

"Cedric is not at full speed, but it was good to see him out at
practice and see him go through some run polish and handling the
ball," said coach Houston Nutt, who noted that hamstring injuries
are difficult to treat. "It's much better than we'd thought it
would be today, so that's positive."

height="50" align="left" border="0">Ohio State: Coach Jim Tressel suspended tight end Louis Irizarry on Wednesday, two days after the freshman was arrested on assault charges in a dorm room altercation.

"Louis will not be allowed to travel or compete in any games
until this matter has gone through the legal process and been
resolved at the university level," Tressel said in a statement.

An Ohio State campus police report said Irizarry was charged
with three counts of first-degree misdemeanor assault. Three people
sustained minor injuries about midnight Monday in the Park Hall
dorm room.

Ohio State athletic director Andy Geiger said Irizarry will be
required to undergo counseling before being allowed to play.

Irizarry, a 6-foot-5, 235-pounder has seen little action this season for the Buckeyes, who play Saturday at Penn State.

He is scheduled to be arraigned next Thursday in Franklin County
Municipal Court.
