LINCOLN, Neb. -- Fired Nebraska coach Frank Solich told the
Lincoln Journal Star that he was honored to be considered for the
Army head coaching job.
Solich said he withdrew his name from consideration after being
interviewed by Army.
"It's obvious you're around the very best of people when you're
talking about people from the academy," Solich told the Journal
Solich declined to comment when asked whether Army had offered
him the job.
The Associated Press could not reach Solich for comment.
The 59-year-old Solich, fired last week after six seasons as
Nebraska's head coach, has said he wants to coach again.
Bo Pelini, named interim coach after Solich was dismissed, told
the Journal Star he was contacted by Akron University about its
vacant head coaching job. Pelini said he is not interested.
