McNeal will be limited in spring drills

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Texas A&M quarterback Reggie
McNeal underwent surgery to repair torn cartilage in his right
shoulder and will be limited in spring drills.

"Dr. J.P. Bramhall performed the surgery and Reggie will be
limited in the spring and probably unable to throw," coach Dennis
Franchione said in a statement released Saturday.

McNeal, who started 11 of 12 games for the Aggies last season,
had the surgery on Friday.

McNeal completed 113-of-221 passes for 1,782 yards and eight
touchdowns. He was the second-leading rusher on the squad with 370
yards on the ground.

The Aggies currently have two walk-on quarterbacks on the
roster. Ty Branyon, a redshirt freshman from Austin who played in
one game in 2003, and T.J. Sanders, a true freshman from Goddard,
Kan., who did not see any action last fall.
