Reasons for Turner's, 21, suicide unknown

BOULDER, Colo. -- A former Colorado running back committed
suicide this week, authorities said Friday.

The body of Bryan A. Turner, 21, was found Monday at his home in
Lafayette, Boulder County Coroner Tom Faure said. He had hanged

Colorado athletics spokesman Dave Plati said Turner was a
walk-on running back in 2001, but never played in a game. He quit
the team after that season and returned for about a month last year
before leaving the team for good.

Lafayette Police Chief Paul Schultz could not immediately say if
his department ever responded to Turner's home or if there was any
indication why he committed suicide. University police said there
is no record of the department ever contacting Turner.

The football program is reeling from a scandal amid accusations
that it used sex and alcohol to lure recruits. University
spokeswoman Pauline Hale said officials have no knowledge that the
suicide has anything to do with the scandal.

A memorial service for Turner was held Friday.
