NFL games on Christmas necessitate move

HONOLULU -- The date of the 2004 Sheraton Hawaii Bowl has
been changed from Christmas Day to Christmas Eve, officials said

"With the NFL taking a two-game slot on Christmas Day, it
became necessary for us to move the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl to
Christmas Eve," bowl executive director Jim Donovan said.

The kickoff for this year's game at Aloha Stadium is scheduled
for 2 p.m. (7 p.m. ET) and will be telecast live by ESPN.

The bowl is owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television, the
marketing arm of the cable sports network, in partnership with the
University of Hawaii, the Western Athletic Conference and
Conference USA.

The first two bowl games were played on Christmas Day. Tulane
defeated Hawaii 36-28 in the inaugural game in 2002, and Hawaii
defeated Houston 54-48 in triple overtime last year.
