FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas' Houston Nutt and Texas A&M's Dennis Franchione will coach the annual Shrine East-West Game all-star contest featuring college football standouts from across the nation in January.
Jack Hart, executive director of the event, announced the selection in a news release Tuesday. Nutt will coach the East squad, and Franchione will coach the West squad.
The game will be played Jan. 21 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, and telecast nationally on ESPN2. It's the first time the game has been played outside San Francisco since the first Shrine Game in 1925.
"I'm honored to be asked to be a part of this prestigious game," Nutt said. "The East-West Shrine Game has a tradition of attracting some of the best talent in college football as well as making a difference in communities all over the nation."
He said he would be pleased to "contribute in a small way to the great work of the Shriners Hospitals" and other charitable causes that benefit from the game.
