AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville underwent successful appendectomy surgery on Wednesday and is expected to make a full recovery, the university said in a statement.
Tuberville had the outpatient procedure at Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Fla.
"The surgery went well, and I'm looking forward to a speedy recovery," Tuberville, who is entering his ninth season as Tigers coach, said in a statement. "I am glad that I was able to get the procedure done now before we get into the full swing of the football season."
In eight seasons at Auburn, Tuberville is 71-29 and 95-49 in 12 years as a head coach. Last season he led Auburn to an 11-2 record and 17-14 victory over Nebraska in the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.
Auburn opens the 2007 season on Sept. 1 against Kansas State at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
