NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- LSU's Glenn Dorsey won the Lott
Trophy on Sunday, topping off a week full of individual honors for
the Tigers' defensive tackle.
Dorsey won the award honoring on-field performance and personal
character among defensive players. It capped a banner week for
Dorsey, who won the Bronco Nagurski Award as the nation's top
defensive player, as well as the Outland Trophy, the Lombardi
Award, and Southeastern Conference defensive player of the year.
The 6-foot-2, 303-pound senior beat out finalists
James Laurinaitis of Ohio State, J Leman of Illinois and Chris Long of
Dorsey finished the season with 64 tackles, six sacks and 11½
tackles for a loss, even though he played the last five games with
a sore right knee.
The award is named for Hall of Fame defensive back Ronnie Lott,
who starred for Southern California and the San Francisco 49ers.
Lott presented the trophy to Dorsey at the Pacific Club.
