Arkansas State's Louis injured after being struck in left leg

Arkansas State football player Alfred Louis suffered minor injuries after a shooting early Saturday near a residence hall on the school's Jonesboro, Ark., campus.

Louis, a redshirt freshman offensive lineman from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was struck in the left leg by a bullet fragment or a piece of gravel while fleeing the scene. He was treated at St. Bernards Medical Center and released later in the day.

The shooting took place just before 2 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the NorthPark Quads residence hall.

Arkansas State's athletic department reviewed the incident and determined Louis had no direct involvement in the shooting. A statement released by the school's department of communications said, "Police do not believe Louis was the intended target."
